Types of varnish applied after floor sanding
After sanding and smoothing your floor, you will have the choice between 2 types of varnish: an ecological water-based varnish or an oil-based varnish.
The varnishes Idro 2k and Aqua Tenax, from Vermeister, contain very few volatile organic compounds that are harmful to the environment, while being formulated to withstand high traffic (residential or commercial). These varnishes are available in matte, satin, semi-gloss or gloss finishes.
As for the oil-based varnish, we use a product from the manufacturer MC Crystal. This varnish contains an extremely resistant water-reactive solvent and provides an ultra-glossy finish. Drying, however, takes longer and must be done without drafts.
Dyeing
If you want to change the appearance of your floor, our team can offer to stain it. We offer a wide range of colors. We use the semi-transparent water-based Tonetic stain from Pratt and Lambert. This stain dries very well, but you must wait 24 to 48 hours before applying the water-based protective varnish. Before applying the stain, we will need to sand the floor three times with 40-80-100 grit sandpaper.
