Our Floor Sanding Methods
Whether it's for sanding a solid hardwood or engineered wood floor, multiple sanding passes are necessary to prepare the wood for a new finish. The first sanding is done with coarse-grit sandpaper to remove the old varnish. This also eliminates all marks, scratches, stains, and discolored areas. Your floor will lose the yellowed hue that makes it look unappealing.
We then sand a second time with finer-grit sandpaper. This smooths the wood to prepare it for finishing. You can then choose to have a stain applied in the color of your choice, or simply a protective varnish.
Wood Floor Staining
Staining a wood floor is an affordable way to transform your décor. Would you like floors in a luxurious or exotic wood species? Please note that the stains used are semi-transparent and allow the wood's grain and patterns to show through.
We use Tonetic water-based stain from the manufacturer Pratt & Lambert. Once the stain is harmoniously applied over the entire surface of your floor (and on your wooden stairs and moldings, if needed), it is necessary to wait at least 24 hours before applying the protective varnish.
