Hardwood Floor Staining Method
When staining a hardwood floor, we perform three sanding passes using 40-80-100 grit sandpapers, along with a special sander that reaches along the walls. This process removes all imperfections (dents, scratches, wear, stains) accumulated over time. The wood becomes raw and smooth, allowing the stain to adhere perfectly and the color to be flawless.
Totenic Stain by Pratt & Lambert
We use a semi-transparent, single-component (non-catalyzed), oil-based stain that penetrates deeply into the wood, highlighting its grain and veins. This stain is extremely durable and offers excellent color retention over time.
It is a fast-drying stain that becomes touch-dry after approximately 30 minutes. However, we wait a minimum of 24 hours before applying the protective varnish (we recommend 48 hours for very dark colors). We use an eco-friendly water-based varnish from Vermeister, ideal for high-traffic areas. Several finishes are available.
Hardwood Floor Stain Colors
An infinite number of hardwood floor stain colors are available. You can also request a custom color mix. Colobar colorists can precisely reproduce a sample. For instance, if you want to stain a wooden staircase to match your new prefinished floor, the color will be reproduced through a color-matching process.
